No. 43 - 18 days left: Are you an ember or a spark?
Share
Well, we’ve flipped the calendar to mid-December. It feels like 12 minutes ago it was January and the year held infinite possibility. 365 days to balance family and commitments, growth goals personal and professional, relaxation and ‘nose to the grindstone’ moments. I created an intention to grow Island Elixir Tea Company and spread my vision - 5 minutes of calm for every Canadian, every day - and here we are in the last month of the year and I am reflecting on how fortunate we have been to make progress in spreading Tea with Intention.
18 Days to go … what are you craving?
Here we are with 18 days left in 2025. And for those 18 days most of us will go one of two ways: a 2-teapot-a-day push to get a head start on 2026; or, settling in for a much-deserved long winter’s nap with a chai on slow simmer. Neither path is better or worse. It’s about tuning in and honouring our needs and nature.
If your spark is more of an ember after a season of downing those tea pots of Happy Maté or Salish Breakfast, it may be time to slow down. What a great opportunity to grab your favourite fountain pen and a journal and reflect on what fuels you. Grab a friend and get outside or, should the atmospheric river return, hunker down for conversation and cards or knitting or whatever brings you joy. Switch out the breakfast blend for a special treat tea (may I suggest a little Peppermint Wishes?), watch the leaves unfurl and rest.
On the other hand, if your tea-fuelled spark is bright, perhaps now is the time to pick up the pencil, make plans for an even more beautiful 2026, and get a jump start. If you’re looking for a path forward, check out Rachel Hollis’ Glow Up podcast for some great reminders.
Our spark is bright and getting stronger 🔥
Here in the Tea Works, being fuelled by copious amounts of First Light and Junior Year Pu’erh, our spark is bright! Pencils are sharpened and we’re looking forward to an incredible 2026. We’ll be kicking off the year with tea ideas for all your wellness related New Year’s resolutions - Dry January? Check! Better Sleep? Check! Our workshops kick off with Tea Foundations in January (sorry, sold out!) followed by Tea & Chocolate and Green Tea Passport in February (registration is open now). We will also welcome some beautiful new Kenyan teas into the shop - white, yellow, green, purple and black - produced by Legacy Sips, a small 3rd generation tea farm making surprising and beautiful teas. We have a couple more ‘super secret’ blends in the works too. It’s going to be a great year 💜
So, as we sip our way intentionally into winter, perhaps you’ll find a moment to pop in to the shop or drop a line (I read and respond to every email). And, if you are stocked up on tea and wrapped in coziness too good to escape, we wish you a most beautiful close to 2025 surrounded by those you love and whatever brings you joy.
