Tea history is not always nice. Until the mid-1960s, it was not legal for African Kenyans to hold property and, therefore, they could not own the land they cultivated. Things changed with the end of British rule, and those farmers with decades of expertise could finally take control of their own destiny. What they built from that moment forward is nothing short of remarkable.

Today, in the Kenyan mountains, there are passionate tea farmers who emphasize careful two-leaves-and-a-bud plucking and are creating a grand legacy one harvest at a time.

My intention in bringing you this tea is to fill your cup with the strength, passion and soul of those who have poured everything into cultivating and producing something beautifully bold.

From the Kenyan Highlands

Kenya's high-elevation growing regions produce some of the most distinctive black teas in the world. The assamica cultivar thrives here, developing the bright malt and orange character that serious tea drinkers recognize immediately. Grown in rich volcanic soil at altitude, with equatorial light and cool highland mist, Legacy Black is a single-origin expression of everything Kenyan black tea does best.
