Q&A with Bree, founder and tea artist

Q: Why doesn't this taste like other pumpkin teas?
A: Since this tea has no added flavourings, you are getting the essence of the pumpkin in its sweetness and the focus is more on the smoky twist on your favourite pumpkin pie recipe.

Q: What is Guayusa? Why did you use it in this tea?
A: Guayusa, pronounced gwai-yoo-sa, is a type of holly (Illex guayusa), similar to the better known yerba maté. Cultivated in Ecuador's Amazon basin, the leaves of the guayasa tree serve as the base for the morning beverage favoured by the Kichwa people. It has lovely peachy notes and brings a beautiful sweetness to this tea.

Q: What is Lapsang Souchong?
A: Lapsang Souchong is a smoked tea, the tea leaves, after rolling and drying, are placed over smouldering pine. The tea absorbs the smokiness like a sponge in water. On its own, Lapsang Souchong is a 'love it or hate it' tea. But when blended it adds a unique character that reminds me of cozy evenings around the fireplace.
