The Ultimate Rooibos Soother Lemon Drop

The Ultimate Rooibos Soother Lemon Drop

Love Lemon Drops? Try This Next Level Treat

My grandmother's favourite cocktail is a classic Lemon Drop Martini. It combines the tart, sweet flavour of lemon with the crispness of vodka. It's an incredibly easy cocktail to make at home and a crowd-pleaser for summer evenings on the deck, dock or poolside. But maybe you're looking for a little something different but still want that citrus essence?

This is an AMAZING twist on the classic. Just as easy to make (especially if you already have some Rooibos Soother Simple Syrup in the fridge), but with a unique silky texture and candy-like essence added to the drink. One of my favourites ... I'll let you know what Grandma thinks!

To make 2 small (or 1 very large!) cocktails you will need:

Directions:

1.  Chill the Glass:
  • Fill a martini glass with ice and water. No martini glass? Any wine glass will do, or be creative with those beautiful crystal sherry glasses!
  • Set aside to chill while you make the cocktail.
2.  Prepare the Cocktail:
  • Fill a cocktail shaker 2/3 full with ice.
  • Pour in vodka, lemon juice, triple sec and Rooibos Soother simple syrup.
  • Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds to chill and thoroughly combine the ingredients.
3.  Assemble the Cocktail:
  • Dump the water and ice into a nearby houseplant (or in a bowl or cup to do that later).
  • Strain the cocktail into the glass.
4.  Garnish and Serve:
  • Garnish the glass with a fresh lemon twist.
  • Serve on your grandmother's silver tray 🍸.
5.  Enjoy:
  • Find a spot in the sun and sip slowly, savouring the crisp tartness and light silkiness of your tea-infused cocktail.

Tips for the Ultimate Rooibos Soother Lemon Drop:

  • Vodka: Use your favourite! Citrus-flavoured vodkas will also work (I like Absolut Citron).
  • Substitute the Triple Sec: Any orange liqueur will do the trick. Cointreau is a classic.
  • Rim it: Amp up the lemony goodness by running a slice of lemon around the rim of the chilled glass just before filling. Looking for something sweeter? Tip the lemon-rimed glass upside down onto a sugar-filled plate.

The Ultimate Rooibos Soother Lemon Drop is a fun twist on the classic with the candy-like quality of the tisane-infused simple syrup elevating the already chic air of your classic lemon drop martini. Grandma approved!
