Imperial Keemun Mao Feng
Imperial Keemun Mao Feng
Leaves for Keemun Mao Feng teas are harvested early in the season (March - April), resulting in a lighter and sweeter tea than might otherwise be anticipated.
This beautiful organic tea delivers an elegant texture with a dark peach to gold liquor. Honeyed aroma with notes of dried pear speak to the tea's 'winey' nature. No astringency here, just beautiful subtle toasty notes in a classic and beautifully made spring season Keemun. Lovely, long and wiry leaves make it suitable for multiple infusions.
Q&A with Bree, founder and tea artist
Q&A with Bree, founder and tea artist
Q: What do you mean by wiry?
A: When the tea is made, the leaves are twisted / rolled, which helps to activate the enzymes that lead to leaf oxidation - what turns it into black tea. By 'wiry' I mean the appearance of the dry, twisted leaf. The leaves look like little kinked wires.
Q: Where is this tea from?
A: Keemun style teas originate in the province of Anhui, China and are named for the southeastern county of Qimen.
Q: What grade is this tea?
A: This is the third highest grade Keemun available.
